Tesco to launch new Amazon Prime inspired loyalty scheme

Tesco has announced plans to re-launch its Clubcard loyalty scheme with a new initiative expected to mimic Amazon Prime.

According to The Sunday Times, the grocer’s new loyalty scheme will like follow a similar mould to the increasingly popular Amazon Prime service, which now boasts 15 million UK subscribers.

Though details of exactly how the scheme would work are thin, it is understood it will be linked to the Tesco Pay+ app, which is run to Tesco Bank and an lets users pay via their smartphone by scanning barcodes.

This also connects to both the customer’s debit or credit card, as well as their Clubcard allowing them to collect Clubcard points via the app.

The scheme will also encourage Tesco’s 80 million weekly shoppers to sign up to its Tesco Mobile and banking services by offering them incentives.

    Does that mean that they will be charging for a Clubcard as at least with Amazon Prime you get benefits.I’m a retired member of Tesco staff and get a staff discount.
