Online furniture retailer Made.com is launching a technology innovation lab which aims to work with start-ups to integrate ground breaking technologies in its retail operations.
Made Labs, which will be based in the retailer’s head quarters in Shoreditch, will seek out start-ups developing technology which focuses on helping consumers find the right products and then accurately visualise them in their own homes.
According to Made, the Labs team will work closely with the chosen start-ups with a view to integrating their innovations into its core platform as quickly as possible.
“We want to provide technology that is always one step ahead of our customers’ expectations,” Made’s chief technology officer Jonathan Howell said.
“We are lucky enough to be based in the centre of one of the world’s best tech start-up communities. There are amazing things happening within those companies, and we want to stay true to our entrepreneurial roots and collaborate with these businesses to get their ideas in front of our customers.
“Made Labs marks another step towards our ambition to become Europe’s leading design destination, as we continue to use technology to power our growth.”
It follows the successful introduction of various innovative technologies by the retailer, including its Sofasizer online tool which helps users find the perfect size sofa, its in-store Find My Style feature and most recently the launch of its online interior design service.
