Klarna launches ecommerce app allowing US shoppers to pay later at any retailer

Payments giant Klarna has launched its newly redesigned app in the US, opening up its service to consumers across all retailers.

Klarna’s payment system, which allows users to pay later for items in four equal instalments with zero interest fees, will now be available everywhere via the new Klarna App, including retailers which already have their own payment schemes.

Its app will also now include cross-platform wishlists, price drop notifications and suggests from influencer created content.

“The demand for personalized shopping and ease of transactions are no longer trends in retail – they are now requirements,” Klarna’s chief commercial officer Michael Rouse said.

“Streamlining the digital shopping experience, from product searches to point of sale, allows consumers to not only take control of their purchases and on their terms – it also enables diverse, curated styles.”

To showcase the new features Klarna has partnered with RuPaul’s DragCon 2019, which will see drag icons including Aquaria, Asia O’Hara, Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls shop with the app for one month to create “customer looks”.
