Asos expands Klarna service to US

Asos’ partnership with Klarna has been expanded to the US, allowing users to “buy now and pay later” on thousands of items.

The ecommerce retailer has announced the expansion of its partnership with the payments giant, after first rolling out Klarna’s service to its users un the UK in 2016.

Customers in the US can now purchase items from over 850 brands and choose to either pay with 14 or 30 days after delivery or in three equal instalments, with zero interest.

According to Asos a third of their customers said having the option to pay in installments would help them better manage finances, while 24 per cent said it would allow them to buy more high-end products.

“At Asos we want to give our customers choice in everything we do whether that is in the broad range of Asos Design and branded products, smooth and fast delivery options or payment options,” Asos brand experience director Eve Williams said.

“We know these are all important to our customers — the addition of Klarna as a payment method in the US will help provide the best customer experience for our US customers,”

Klarna’s chief commercial officer Michael Rouse added: “Extending the Asos partnership into the US speaks to Klarna’s global reputation among both its brand partners and customers.

“Asos offers an accessible shopping experience. Paired with Klarna’s smoooth user experience and capabilities, customers in both the US and UK are now able to experiment and express themselves in the latest fashions with confidence.”
