Gymshark unveils £5m tech and innovation hub at UK HQ
Sports apparel retailer Gymshark has unveiled a £5 million tech innovation hub near its headquarters in Solihull, designed to double up as the best gym in Europe.
The former warehouse has been transformed by design company Oktra into a 55,000 sq ft studio to support the brand’s heavy focus on social media presence and work with influencers.
The Instagram-savvy retailer was founded five years ago by then-19 year old entrepreneur Ben Francis from his bedroom at his parents’ house.
“Having developed Gymshark HQ as a facility that enables their business to grow, we then moved on to the Gymshark Lifting Club , which enables their people to grow. It offers something different from a typical office environment– it’s a playground for mental and physical development,” said Oktra North design director Sean Espinasse.
The new space encouraged team training and engagement, with a central ’X’ shaped concrete health bar designed as a point of learning and personal training.
A 100-person auditorium, research and development factory and multiple high-tech photography studios will support Gymshark in the launch of its new fitness app.
As of 2019, Gymshark is now the UK’s fastest growing fashion brand, with its parents company reaching sales of £103 million for the year to July 31 2018.
