Fitness First offers delivery direct to gym lockers

Fitness First gyms are launching a new delivery initiative which sends purchases straight to a customer’s locker.

Powered by Doddle’s click-and-collect technology, Fitness First customers can now request their purchases from DW Sports Fitness’ ecommerce website to be delivered to a secure locker at their local gym.

Online orders from DW Sports Fitness, which purchased Fitness First in 2017, can be collected the next day from the lockers, which are accessed by a digital code given to the customer upon purchase.

As part of the “Kit & Collect” service customers will receive a notification when their purchase is ready to collect while automated returns pods will also enable customers to send back any unwanted purchases immediately.

Fitness First is trialling the service in three London locations, including Cottons Centre, Fenchurch Street and Hammersmith, with plans to expand the service across the UK in the near future.

“Being able to fulfil kit orders in the environment in which they’ll be used is a watershed moment,” DW Sports Fitness retail director Lee Pinnington said.

“It’s the ultimate realisation of our behaviour-first approach to retail. Today’s sports consumer wants to blend shopping seamlessly into their worlds, interests and lifestyles and Doddle’s automated fulfilment solutions, delivered in the gym environment, enable them to do just that.”
