“Starbucks Pick-Up” to only serve orders made via its app

Starbucks is set to launch a pick-up only store in New York solely serving orders which are made via the Starbuck app.

“Starbucks Pick-Up”, set to be the first store of its kind in the US, is under construction near Penn Station, though an official opening date has not been announced.

Customer who make their order via the Starbucks app, will then be able to track the progress of their order via an order status board in the store.

Though this is the first time the concept will be introduced in the west Starbucks Now stores in China, which operate on a similar basis, have proven popular.

Last month Starbucks announced its Chinese customers could now order coffee and food for home delivery using Alibaba’s smart speaker.

Anyone with a Tmall Genie smart speaker can now make Starbucks orders using their voice, and have their coffee delivered to their door within just 30 minutes with the ability to track their order in real time.
