Louis Vuitton has launched a new League of Legends collection as it becomes the latest retailer to try and cash in on the increasingly lucrative video game market.
The luxury fashion brand has released a range of items in an exclusive partnership with League of Legends, the wildly popular action-strategy online multiplayer game which is frequently the focus of major esports tournaments.
The collection is comprised of over 30 items, ranging from a $420 belt, to a $720 bucket hat, all the way to a $5650 silver leather jacket.
Louis Vuitton, which also has a FIFA collection, is the latest in a string of brands launching products especially designed to appeal to the esports and video game market.
Puma launched an esports collection in October, following in the footsteps of sportswear rivals Adidas and Nike who are also partnering with esports brands.
K-Swiss also announced the release of the “world’s first e-sports performance shoe” back in July, developed in collaboration with the Immortal Gaming Club (IGC).
Over 194 million people will watch e-sports this year, according Morgan Stanley’s predictions, and nearly 80 per cent of the audience under the age of 35, representing a huge opportunity for brands.
