Prior to that, Wilkinson was head of technology research and open innovation at Tesco Labs.

Wilkinson started his new role at Amazon’s London offices this week, according to a report by Essential Retail.

The placement comes as Alexa Shopping moves into a major recruitment drive, touting 230 open jobs on its team recruitment website.

“Our vision is to redefine the future of shopping by transforming the way our customers browse, find and buy from Amazon by using Alexa,” the jobs page states.

“We are seeking talented, experienced trailblazers to help us create unique experiences that weren’t possible in the past. From data to design, across engineering, marketing, research and more, you will help further our shopping-by-voice platform through Alexa-powered devices.”
