Klarna has pledged to donate £1 to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for every order using its service to buy goods on Asos tomorrow.
Asos customers shopping on “Giveback Day” (April 29) using Klarna’s ‘buy now, pay later’ service, will see £1, $1 or €1 donated by the Swedish payments giant to help support health infrastructure in some of the world’s most deprived countries during the pandemic.
Klarna has guaranteed to honour every purchase made in the relevant currency, and has not placed a limit on how much it will donate.
“These are challenging and worrying times for us all and we are incredibly proud to be supporting the ICRC alongside our friends at Asos,” Klarna’s commercial vice president Luke Griffiths said.
“The ICRC is carrying out essential work to improve protection and reduce the spread of COVID-19 and we are delighted to be supporting the efforts with our Giveback Day. We haven’t capped our pledge to ICRC and so, for each and every Klarna transaction placed at Asos on 29th April, we will be donating £1, $1 or €1 to provide aid in already-exposed communities.
Asos’ brand experience director Eve Williams added: “At Asos we want to do as much as we can to show our appreciation for the vital organisations that are helping during this worrying time. We are pleased to be able to extend our Asos Supports campaign to this initiative with Klarna in supporting the ICRC.”
