Uber Eats has partnered with New Covent Garden Market to offer customers boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables directly from wholesalers “to be delivered directly to their doorstep”.
Three produce boxes are now available to order throughout London via the Uber Eats app, each featuring a range of fresh produce and costing £10.
All the boxes will include information detailing where the produce has come from, as well as serving suggestions.
The “Very Radishing” box by Fresh Connect contains seasonal produce grown across the UK, including asparagus from Kent, Jersey Royal poratoes and tomatoes from the Isle of Wight alongside a selection of radishes, berries and fruit.
An “Exotic Fruit” box by Fruit for the Office will contain a range of fruits from across the globe such as dragon fruit, grenadillo and paw paw, while the “Fruit & Veg” box by West Green Foods will offer mixed salad, cauliflower, aubergines and mixed peppers.
“We want to do what we can to feed Brits newfound interest in fruit and vegetables,” Uber Eats general manager Toussaint Wattinne said.
“Now everyone can order fresh and healthy produce from the New Covent Garden Market to be delivered directly to their doorstep.”
Covent Garden Market Authority’s chief executive Daniel Tomkinson added: “New Covent Garden Market’s traders provide exceptional quality fruit and vegetables, both British and from further afield, which typically gets served everywhere from high end restaurants to schools.
“Since lockdown started and restaurants closed, a number of our traders have launched produce delivery boxes direct to the public and we’re thrilled to be making three of these available through Uber Eats for the first time.”
