Waitrose has brought its popular “Wine Tasting at Home” service online allowing customers to chat with drinks experts via Zoom.
The grocer’s Wine Tasting at Home service usually sees a drinks expert visit the customer’s home for a two-hour tasting session, providing a range of wines, gins or whiskies as well as optional “cheese, biscuit and nibbles” pairings depending on the package.
Waitrose has now taken the service online after cancelling it temporarily in face of the coronavirus pandemic, allowing customers to engage with drinks experts via Zoom.
Its usual service allows customers to invite up to six guests to the tasting, and while they can still invite friends and family to the tastings online, they now also have to option to join in with people they’ve never met.
As usual drinks will be posted to the customers house and there will be a £10 household fee, but the sessions will be reduced to between 45 and 60 minutes.
“The Waitrose Wine Tasting at Home experiences have been incredibly popular with our customers, so we are thrilled to be able to offer them online,” Waitrose’s drinks category manager Anne Jones said.
“They are a fun and relaxed way for you and your friends and family to get together virtually and learn a little bit more about wine and gin.
“Our fantastic team of specialists are there to give you some great tips, whether that’s what wine to pair with your favourite meal, or how to make the perfect Negroni, and all done from the comfort of your own home.”
