AO.com opens new logistics centre as its third-party logistics service continues to grow

AO.com has opened the doors to a new logistics centre in as it continued to build its third-party logistics business which now counts Aldi as a customer.

AO’s 100,000sq ft logistics centre in Crewe, the third in the town, will enable the retailer to ensure more of its customers can receive deliveries when they need it seven days a week.

It will also ensure the growth of its increasingly important third-party logistics operations, which helps other retailers fulfil online deliveries much like Amazon’s ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’ service.

Aldi, Simba, The Cotswold Company and Keter all currently utilise the service.

“This is a great measure of the confidence that our third-party clients have in AO,” AO’s managing director of logistics David Ashwell said.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic our amazing team has been delivering safely and efficiently, providing a lifeline for AO.com’s customers which in turn, third party clients have benefitted from.

“We’re proud to share our AO service capability with other retailers and third party clients particularly during this difficult time when, thanks to AO, their customers have been able to rely on them.  We’re keen to continue to build long-term relationships with retailers and clients who understand the value of an expert, national two-person delivery network.”
