Lloyds Pharmacy will now deliver PPE and medical essentials to customers homes in under 30 minutes amid a new tie-up with Deliveroo.
Deliveroo’s app will now list a range of more than 50 items from the pharmacy, including PPE equipment like face masks, hand sanitizer and gloves.
Sixteen Lloyds Pharmacy stores in locations including Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Bristol will now also offer home delivery on “medical essentials” like pain relief, hayfever tablets, plasters and children’s medicine.
The service is available from this week, and is set to be rolled out to a further eight UK stores in the coming weeks.
Lloyds Pharmacy says this “first-of-its-kind” service is aimed at easing pressure on the NHS and helping vulnerable shoppers who are continuing to self-isolate.
“Pharmacy plays a pivotal role in not only offering prescriptions and advice to patients, but in also providing over the counter medicine for minor ailments, helping to alleviate pressure on the NHS,” LloydsPharmacy chief executive Toby Anderson said.
“This partnership with Deliveroo marks a step change in the evolution of pharmacy and illustrates our commitment to continue delivering first-class healthcare services to our customers.”
Deliveroo’s vice president of new business Ajay Lakhwani added: “At Deliveroo, we are doing everything we can to make sure that people get the food and health products they need and want during this unprecedented time.
“We are pleased to partner with Lloyds Pharmacy and deliver a new range of over the counter medicines to our customers. This will be particularly important for the elderly and those who are self-isolating at home.”
