Aldi expands UK Deliveroo partnership to Liverpool, Brighton and Bristol

Aldi is dramatically extending its partnership with Deliveroo in the UK to 22 more stores while adding hundreds more items.

Deliveroo will now offer 30-minute delivery on over 400 Aldi items from 42 stores, seeing it more than double both the number of participating stores and the number of items available for delivery.

For the first time since the start of the partnership in May, Aldi will offer delivery for customers within a 6km radius of participating stores in Bristol, Brighton and Liverpool.

Aldi says that if the latest extension continues to prove popular with customers, it could be extended to even more locations across the UK in the coming weeks.

It follows news last week that Aldi Ireland was also extending its tie-up with Deliveroo, as the retailer pushes ahead with its plans to expand its ecommerce offering.

The news also comes as Liverpool enters the new “very high risk” category, meaning that although restaurants and shops will remain open swathes of customers will remain at home, significantly boosting demand for home delivery services.

“The feedback on our trial with Deliveroo has been very positive so far, with customers really valuing being able to have more ways of getting Aldi’s quality food at unbeatable prices, as recently recognised by Which? who found a basket of items was 23% cheaper at Aldi than at Tesco,” Aldi UK’s communications director Richard Thornton said.

“This extension takes the partnership into new areas for the first time, including cities like Bristol and Liverpool amongst dozens of others across the country.”

Deliveroo’s vice president of new business Ajay Lakhwani added: “Deliveroo’s on-demand grocery partnerships have proven vital for so many people during this difficult period, allowing families to get the food and household items they need and want quickly.

“The success of this trial reflects the strong customer desire for groceries on-demand, an area in which Deliveroo is providing increasing choice. We are excited that even more customers across the country can now enjoy Aldi’s great quality food.”
