Co-op has launched a new augmented reality experience aiming to “drive a sense of togetherness” for its customers and colleagues during lockdown.
The AR app has been launched to celebrate the £15 million that has been raised by Co-op members for more than 4500 local causes.
Developed by Kin + Carta Connect, the campaign allows both Co-op staff and customers to take part in its annual Payout fundraising activities virtually.
A web-based AR experience invites users to pop virtual balloons to reveal how much Co-op has raised for causes in their local area.
It has also launched #ItsWhatWeDo hashtag so people can share their personal stories of how the Co-op has made a difference in their community.
“We’re proud to help Co-op celebrate its pivotal role in bringing communities together through Payout,” Kin + Carta Connect’s senior account director Joelle Dunne said.
“Co-op has a terrific record of giving back to local causes – this virtual campaign drives a sense of togetherness.”
Co-op’s head of communications Sam Walker added: “In the past couple of years, Co-op has been the most talked-about grocer online during our Payout weekend celebrations. That’s testament to our members’ support and all the hard work our fantastic colleagues do to raise funds for local causes, which make a real difference in their communities.
“This year we’ve had to rethink our approach as we can’t physically come together, but we still wanted to celebrate our members’ amazing contributions to their local communities, just by choosing to shop at their local Co-op.”
