Morrisons has launched a new Christmas Dinner box enabling vulnerable shoppers to order Christmas favourites using its popular phone service.
Morrisons’ £18.36 Christmas Dinner box, containing staples including peeled potatoes, a turkey joint, gravy and cranberry sauce, will be available to order via the grocer’s telephone ordering service.
The telephone service, launched in April, has proved immensely popular with customers who may not be familiar or comfortable with online ordering, seeing 100,000 people make an order over the first two months of launching.
To order online customers can call 0345 611 6111 and select option five.
“Our telephone service is a lifeline for many vulnerable people,” Morrisons chief executive David Potts said.
“Thirty million British households will be shopping in the week up to Christmas and we do not want anyone to get left behind. Our Doorstep delivery service will ensure those who can’t leave their home to go shopping will still be able to enjoy their Christmas dinner.”
Alongside its new Christmas boxes, Morrisons has added a range of its most popular festive items, including mulled wine and pigs in blankets to its Deliveroo range.
Now 35 Christmas products can be ordered for delivery within 30 minutes, bringing the total number of Morrisons items available to 300.
Morrisons partnership with Deliveroo has now expanded to 180 stores across the UK, covering one in every four households.
Deliveroo’s account manager Amy Bishop added: “We’re delighted to be able to spread a bit of festive cheer and help customers who are craving Christmas treats and just can’t wait until their next big shop. Thanks to our partnership with Deliveroo, customers can enjoy our food without even leaving their kitchen.”
