Amazon to launch custom t-shirt service using “virtual body doubles” based on customer photos

Amazon has unveiled a new custom t-shirt service which uses a “virtual body double” based on customers’ photos to create the perfect fit.

‘Made For You’, which Amazon plans to launch soon, will enable shoppers to create an entirely customised t-shirt for $25.

Users can select the fabric, colour, length, fit, neckline, sleeve length and even customise their own labels.

Amazon asks users to provide their height, weight and two photos of their body taken in-app to create a “virtual body double” which can accurately model the t-shirt their designing.

According to the retailer, the photos are automatically deleted after the customer creates their digital doppelganger.

While the service will initially only be available for t-shirts, Amazon says it could expand the service to more styles if the feedback from customers is positive.
