Card Factory has launched a new mobile app as it pushes to expand its online offering while its stores remain shut across the UK.
The struggling gift card retailer has today launched a new app which will offer customers its full range of thousands of gift cards, wrapping paper, balloons and other gifts.
It will also offer features including a reminder system, a “verse finder” for customers who need help finding the right card, and card personalisation.
Card Factory has become one of the many traditional high street retailers forced to rapidly expand its online operations to keep their head above water during the pandemic.
Earlier this month the retailer said it expected a full-year loss before tax of £10 million, with sales down 33 per cent year-on-year.
Store sales in the 11 months to December 31 dropped by 38.1 per cent as stores remained closed for 37 per cent of available trading days.
Despite this its online sales increased by 137 per cent, driven by the relaunch of its own website a boost from its sister website gettingpersonal.co.uk.
“We are excited to launch our new Card Factory app, which forms a key part of our online and digital strategy,” the brand’s customer, marketing and ecommerce director Glyn Williams said.
Card Factory’s executive chair said last week: “We have successfully pursued key strategic aims, including the acceleration of our digital capability, a streamlined and more effective ‘newness’ range cycle, the implementation of a pricing architecture enabling material retail price progression, auto-replenishment and stock management in-store, utilising hand-held technology and bringing ESG to the fore in our decision making.”
