Amazon has radically expanded its delivery service which allows Prime members to have groceries dropped off inside their garage.
The retail giant announced today that all of its Prime members in every one of the more than 5000 US cities where it offers grocery delivery will now have access to the service.
Until now Amazon’s in-garage delivery service, which forms part of its wider ‘Amazon Key’ service, was only available to a select number of Prime members in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle.
Despite the considerable expansion, customers will still need to purchase additional hardware in order to groceries delivered inside their homes.
Customers with a MyQ Smart Garage Hub installed, or any MyQ-enabled garage door can simply choose “Key Delivery” at the checkout, and watch deliveries happen live with a smart home camera from Ring.
Amazon’s Key service also allows customers to have items delivered inside their homes, cars and businesses, but the technology has yet to experience a more widespread roll-out over privacy and security concerns.
