Xbox and PlayStation to release rival sneakers with Adidas and Nike

Xbox and PlayStation are set to release rival branded trainers in collaboration with Adidas and Nike, both of which are already seeing demand skyrocket.

The longstanding rivalry between Xbox and PlayStation will soon extend into the world of fashion as leaked documents revealed an upcoming collaboration between Adidas and Xbox.

According to a report from Complex, the German sportswear giant is due to release four Xbox-themed trainers over the course of 2021, dropping in June, October and November.

While there has been no official announcement from Xbox manufacturer Microsoft, the leak came just days after Sony announced the upcoming launch of its own trainer with Nike.

The Nike PG5 PlayStation 5 Colorway is a collaboration between the pair for the NBA and Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George.

Nike’s basketball shoes have reportedly been inspired by the PS5’s design featuring the PlayStation logo and white colouring and will be released on May 14.

Both shoes have already seen demand skyrocket as sneakerheads prepare for a fight to get their hands on the limited edition released.

Data from The Sole Supplier suggests that Xbox/Adidas’ offering is currently 84.38 per cent more in demand than its rival.

Last week, demand for Nike’s $120 PS5 shoe jumped 8900 per cent, significantly above the 307 per cent increase in demand the actual console saw in pre-release.
