Google to integrate virtual try-on technology into search with Perfect Corp tie-up

Google has partnered with augmented reality (AR) technology provider Perfect Corp enabling shoppers to use its virtual try-on feature in Google Search.

Perfect Corp’s technology allows online shoppers to access a virtual makeup kit of over 1000 products from over 40 leading beauty brands including Estee Lauder, MAC Cosmetics, Charlotte Tilbury, Black Opal, and more.

Its ‘hands on’ virtual experience, which is currently available on lipstick and eyeshadow products and will soon also include foundations, will now embedded directly into Google Search.

Customers can either view the products in a range of different skin tones or try it on themselves using live camera mode.

“We are thrilled to integrate with Google to make AR virtual beauty trials available through Google search,” Perfect Corp founder and chief executive Alice Chang said.

“It’s a privilege to collaborate with Google to put YouCam’s AR technology in front of beauty fanatics searching for products online, to help them discover and experiment with these products in a new, fun, and interactive way.”

In 2019 Chinese ecommerce giant Alibaba announced plans to invest in the Taiwanese virtual try-on company, leading a funding round which also include Chinese venture capitol firm CCV and Taiwan’s Cyberlink Corp.

Alibaba and Perfect Corp also announced a strategic partnership which will aim to integrate its AR powered beauty technology, enabling customers to virtually try on a range of accessories and makeup, to its Tmall and Taoboa marketplaces.
