Coca-Cola is launching a new drone delivery trial which will see its most popular drinks available for delivery in a matter of minutes.
The drinks giant has partnered with Manna Aero, a drone delivery start-up promising to “make three-minute air delivery a reality”, in Oranmore, Galway, for the trial.
According to Coca-Cola this will be the “largest drone delivery trial of its kind in the world”, seeing its Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta, Sprite and the Schweppes all be made available via Manna’s platform.
The start-up already partners with companies like Just Eat and Tesco to offer rapid drone deliveries, using custom-developed drones to deliver everything from hot food to medicine to peoples homes.
Manna’s “aerospace grade drones” fly at an altitude of 80 metres at speeds topping 80kph, enabling them to deliver goods within a 2km radius in less than 3 minutes.
“The coronavirus pandemic has naturally increased at home occasions, with consumers seeking to create special experiences at home,” says Annmarie Markey, Coca-Cola HBC’S Head of E-commerce.
“In essence, our partnership with Manna will be our first direct-to-consumer offering – delivering our drinks directly and rapidly to homes across Oranmore, with or without a take-away or other delivery.”
“This exciting partnership builds on our strategy to make our products available to consumers 24/7, with a more agile route to market. It also supports our commitment to sustainability, exploring exciting new technology, to help to reduce carbon emissions.”
