Asos is being sued by high street fashion giant Superdry over accusations it “flagrantly” copied its branding to “mislead” customers.

Superdry submitted documents to a London High Court accusing Asos of illegally selling t-shirts and sweatshirts emblazoned with its trademarked ‘Osaka’ branding, according to The Mail.

According to the court documents, filed on August 20 but only recently made public, Superdry trademarked the design in 2018 for t-shirts, jumpers, and hoodies.

It pointed to five items sold on Asos’ website under the Asos, Topman and New Look brands all using the word ‘Osaka’

Superdry is understood to have previously asked Asos to remove the items, but was forced to escalate the matter to legal action when Asos refused to do so.

“It is clear that the product is designed to reproduce the look of Superdry’s goods to mislead customers,” Superdry said.
