Etsy is allowing customers to walk through a virtual environment with the launch of an augmented reality show home.
The Etsy House is populated by curated products made by Etsy sellers.
It gives buyers the opportunity to view items in situ and get a grasp of how products can fit in a domestic environment.
The show house utilises photorealistic technology which renders and scales items to a life size so customers can enjoy a 360 degree perspective in the ultimate window shopping experience.
The digital home is stocked with bespoke furniture, items and artwork, including a small number of Easter eggs for users to discover.
“Do you ever find yourself on Etsy admiring a beautiful piece of artwork, a statement light fixture or some bespoke furniture and wonder what it would look like in your home?,” In a blog post, Etsy vice president Jessica Doyle wrote in a blog post.
“Now you won’t have to, thanks to The Etsy House, the first-ever interactive, augmented-reality experience that allows shoppers to ‘walk through’ a digital home filled with curated Etsy items.”
The shoppable experience aims to reduce transaction friction with pop-up product information and purchase links materialising as you hover over items.
