Co-op seeks lead UX designer amid rapid delivery push

Co-op is looking to hire a lead user experience (UX) designer amid its push into the rapid grocery delivery space.

The job spec says: “You’ll be focussed on the food part of our business and will oversee design for two teams that are responsible for improving our ecommerce function and optimising our website.”

“You’ll work with other designers and engineers in a multi-disciplinary team as well as leading our design community of practice meetings to help bring people together.

“As a lead UX designer, we’ll look to you to work closely with the principal designer on a strategic level to make sure design is following the right product direction.

“You’ll be involved in service design, facilitating feedback sessions and mentoring other designers across the two teams.”

The rapid grocery delivery market is still making gains despite the end of most social distancing measures in the UK.

However competition is high, with a number of start-ups emerging over the course of the pandemic including Gorillas, Weezy and Getir.

The news comes after Russian tech giant Yandex has announced its grocery arm, Yango Deli, is to launch four dark stores across London.

Co-op has also partnered with Amazon to sell its products in its Amazon Fresh grocery stores and online.
