Getir snaps up 3 new London warehouses

Getir has taken on three warehouses on a six-unit warehouse scheme, Waltham X situated in Waltham Cross, London.

This is a new venture for the rapid grocery delivery firm, which has previously been solely focused on securing dark stores around the UK.

These stores operate with no customers, just pickers and packers who fulfil orders and deliver to customers.

The dark stores are currently in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool, Southampton, and Portsmouth.

Getir plans to be in at least 15 UK cities by Christmas 2021

The news comes as Getir plans to invest £100 million in the UK, creating 10,000 new and permanent jobs.

Introducing warehouses into its operations is a key factor in the company’s long-term expansion.

Waltham X was completed in June this year and benefits from close proximity to major roadways, including the M25, A10 and M11, and is next to Waltham Cross station, which has regular services to central London.

“Waltham X is a brilliant location for logistics and industrial tenants, as evidenced by Getir taking up such considerable space. With demand for logistics and warehouse space soaring, we expect considerable interest in the remaining units,” Wrenbridge director Jeff Wilson told Logistics Manager

Getir UK general manager Turancan Salur added: “Our UK business model is the delivery of groceries from our local stores using a 100% e-vehicle fleet.

“We are removing the need for millions of miles of petrol and diesel car journeys to be made every year and making our city roads safer, quieter and cleaner – at the same time as giving our customers a service that gives them great products and saves them huge amounts of valuable time.”
