Amazon is gearing up to open two new Amazon Fresh checkout-free stores in Chingford and East Sheen, London.
Opening hours are from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, seven days a week customers are able to use their Amazon apps to enter and put their phone away and shop for what they need.
At the end of their visit, they can head for the exit, with no need to stand in a queue or check out.
These will be the eighth and ninth ‘just walk out’ convenience grocery stores, with the other six in Camden, Ealing, Wembley Park, White City, Canary Wharf and Dalston, whilst another store in Holborn, just 120 yards from Tesco’s first public checkout-free store, GetGo.
The first Fresh store in Ealing was the ecommerce giant’s first supermarket outside the US, using smart technology to allow customers to simply shop and walk out without any queues.
Amazon has said it “looks forward to opening additional stores in the Greater London area,” with reports indicating Bankside is the next location, although the company is yet to make an official announcement.
The move comes as Amazon plans to open a further 200 Fresh stores with its cashierless technology within the next two years.
