The courier group GeoPost/DPDGroup is expecting to handle 351 million parcels across the UK and Europe during the upcoming peak season, between mid-November and mid-January.
The group is also expecting to handle a record-breaking 13.6 million parcels worldwide on peak days such as Cyber Monday and the week before Christmas, it revealed.
However, the courier says it is “well-prepared to handle this surge in delivery volume,” through the addition of 12,000 drivers, 5000 in-facility operators, and 9000 additional first and last mile delivery vehicles
The company has seen exponential growth in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with profits up 40 per cent from 2019 as the pandemic has “boosted e-commerce worldwide, changing consumers expectations and habits on the long term.”

“Customer satisfaction is GeoPost/DPDgroup’s top priority for this year’s peak period,” DPDgroup European operations director Bas Janssen said.
“With volumes that have already increased by well over 20% over the first half of 2021, we are working hand in hand and around the clock with our customers to meet their changing needs in what remains an uncertain environment.
“Despite these challenges, we are as committed as ever to be the partner of choice, a reference in sustainable delivery and a leading enabler of the e-commerce acceleration.”
