Balmain and Barbie have announced a new collaboration, featuring a ready-to-wear fashion and accessories line and the creation of three non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The 50 plus collection merges Balmain hallmarks with Barbie signatures, including nostalgic 90’s inspired designs with a touch of “Barbie pink”. The NFT’s feature Barbie and Ken avatars donning different looks from the collection.
Each digital design will come with exclusive Barbie x Balmain pieces, merging the digital and physical collection.

The physical collection is expected to launch on 13 January via the Balmain website and the NFT’s will be available via Mattel Creations through an online auction hosted by MintNFT from 11 January.
“As our campaign images make very clear, Barbie and Balmain are embarking upon a distinctly multicultural, inclusive and always joy-filled adventure,” Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing said in a statement.
“For this collaboration, we are building upon the New French Style of Balmain’s most recent collections, once again showing that Balmain is inspired by the truly diverse and exciting beauty found on today’s Parisian boulevards and avenues. This collection also rejects any arbitrary gender limitations – this is an almost 100 percent unisex collection.”
