eBay are giving football fans the chance to sign Roberto Carlos for their Sunday League side

eBay UK is giving football fans the opportunity to sign Brazil and Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos and Ex-Chelsea star Eni Aluko to their Sunday league teams for one match.

The aim of the initiative is to showcase eBay as the ‘people’s marketplace’ with advertising agency McCann London and media firm MediaCom being enlisted to help.

Youth charity Football Beyond Borders is joining the Dream Transfer scheme alongside Sky Sports and Joe Media to “democratise” the January transfer window by offering the experience to anyone in the UK through one game Sunday League contracts which are listed on eBay’s platform for £5.

Participants who wish to enter their side can enter via the £5 raffle ticket with all the proceeds being donated to Football Beyond Borders.

Sky Sports favourite Chris Kamara and transfer news icon Fabrizio Romano will feature throughout the campaign.

“Bringing communities together who have a shared passion is what eBay’s marketplace is all about,” eBay UK chief marketing officer Eve Williams said.

“We wanted to kick off 2022 in a big way to celebrate one of the UK’s biggest collective passions – football – and to make it accessible to everyone – all while supporting Football Beyond Borders, a fantastic charity that does great work to help young people reach their full potential through sport.

“We’re thrilled to be working alongside legends Carlos and Aluko and look forward to seeing which lucky Sunday league team gets them on their pitch.”

Entries will close on 28 January with the winning teams announced on 31 January in line with the closing of the football transfer window.
