Best Buy taps AWS for its cloud services

Best Buy has tapped Amazon’s cloud service, AWS, to provide its cloud infrastructure services.

“Our purpose to enrich lives through technology has never been more important, and this new partnership with AWS is another step in our commitment to deliver outstanding experiences for our customers,” Best Buy chief digital and technology officer Brian Tilzer said.

“Not only will AWS’s cloud technologies help us in this work, but in combination with our culture of innovation and reinvention, they will give our teams invaluable development opportunities as we continue to grow our skilled teams and remain one of the best places for amazing technology talent to thrive.”

Cloud technology meant that Best Buy was able to deploy its curtsied pickup experience within just two days during the early stages of the pandemic.

The company’s partnership with AWS will mean that the consumer electrics retailer will be able to accelerate its cloud migration and cloud first strategy.

Its cloud strategy will begin with moving additional retail operations workloads from its own datacentres to AWS.

Best Buy will continue expand its use of AWS capabilities and AWS Marketplace moving forwards a digital catalogue with software listings from independent software vendors that makes it easy to find, test, buy, and deploy software that runs on AWS.

The partnership will also give Best Buy’s team access to AWS training programs.
