Klarna launches UK rewards programme

Klarna’s new rewards programme will let UK consumers earn points for every payment they make on time, giving them access to exclusive discounts and benefits in the Klarna App.

The rapidly growing global rewards programme from the BNPL giant will launch in the UK this spring as it expands to nine new markets, with consumers benefitting from rewards and points every time they make a payment.

Points can be redeemed in the Klarna App for discounts and benefits at brands such as Decathlon, Caffe Nero and River Island. Members will also benefit from exclusive deals and gain early access to product drops from hand-picked merchants.

The benefits will be earned whether consumers use Klarna’s ‘Pay Now’ immediate full payment option or make an on-time repayment using the ‘Pay Later’ or ‘Pay in 3’ options.

Klarna has also introduced ‘Missions’; small, engaging tasks that consumers can complete to earn additional reward points. These have been created to encourage consumers to discover different features in the Klarna App which help them save time and money, be informed and in control of their finances.

“With our rewards programme, we help consumers get more out of every pound they spend and
reward responsible use of buy now pay later by putting the emphasis on repayment, not purchase,”
said Klarna UK boss, Alex Marsh.

“This contrasts with traditional credit card providers which encourage irresponsible spending by rewarding consumers for making a purchase but then charge double-digit interest when they can’t afford to repay their bill at the end of the month.”

Four million consumers across the US and Australia have already become members of Klarna’s global rewards programme since its launch in September 2020.
