Ikea is launching a new click and collect parcel locker service in London.
The homeware giant currently has two pilot sites live and three in planning. If successful, 20 more locker units will be installed by the end of 2022.
The service will be available to customers living within 27 miles (45km) of a unit. The lockers will cost £10 or be free to use on orders over £200.
The project is part of Ikea’s £1bn investment into fulfilment and delivery across London within the next three years, including an Oxford Street store and a customer distribution centre in Dartford.
The new fulfilment centre will allow for 24/7 deliveries and enable 60% of final mile deliveries into London to be zero emissions.
“Everything we do starts with our customers,” said Ikea UK and Ireland country retail manager and chief sustainability officer Peter Jelkeby.
“Over the next three years, we will continue to transform as we respond to their needs and dreams, today and tomorrow.
“As one of the most innovative and exciting markets in the world for retail and e-commerce, we will step up our omnichannel investments in London with a simple goal: to become more customer centric, so that people can shop with us for a better, more sustainable life at home, whenever, wherever and however they choose.”
Collect Near You Lockers is a collaboration between Ikea and Access Self Storage.
