Walmart launches virtual fitting room technology

Following its acquisition of virtual fitting room platform Zeekit last year, Walmart is now rolling out the technology to its website and app users.

The rollout is starting with the Choose My Model experience, which enables customers to choose between 50 models based on their height, body shape and skin tone, to have a better sense of how clothing will fit them.

Walmart will be expanding the selection by adding nearly 70 model options in the coming weeks to offer a wider choice of sizes, skin tones and hair colours.

Choose My Model is now available on select items across Walmart’s portfolio.

The retail giant is also planning to add a range of other brands, starting with Levi’s and Hanes.

If an item is part of the Zeekit experience, customers will see the prompt to select a model on the item page.

“We have already seen a strong customer response to our Choose My Model experience,” Walmart US executive vice president of apparel and private brands Denise Incandela said.

“The extraordinary, positive customer feedback out of the gate underscores our opportunity and ability to solve a common online shopping problem and build a true, personal connection between Walmart and our customers.”
