Over 24,000 ecommerce businesses were started in the UK last year, according to research from Instant Offices, using data compiled from Companies House.
Instant Offices analysed the population to startup ratio across the country’s top cities to discover which locations saw the highest concentration of entrepreneurs in the last 12 months.

The data revealed the top locations for entrepreneurs launching new ventures during the pandemic, with company registrations in every city analysed.
The pandemic-fuelled ecommerce boom helped fuel a wave of aspiring entrepreneurs to start their own businesses from home.
London saw the most ecommerce startups, with 6,498 being launched in the capital last year. Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool watched 1,048, 972 and 737 launched respectively.
This marks a 21% = increase in the number of new companies started in 2021 compared to 2020.
