John Lewis Partnership to hire 150 new tech roles

John Lewis Partnership is recruiting 150 tech specialists as part of a major investment in its online business.

The group is seeking to hire engineers to bring innovation and expertise across a range of technologies including software, cloud platform, native app, data engineers and delivery leads.

The specialist roles are designed to help keep John Lewis and Waitrose as leaders in omnichannel.

The retail group has seen online sales surge since the pandemic and its websites attract more than 55 million visitors per month.

Online sales now contribute to almost 70% of John Lewis sales and nearly a fifth of Waitrose sales – up from 40% and 5% respectively just two years ago.

The roles will also support the growth and development of the John Lewis and Waitrose apps.

“We have an industry leading team driving the digital growth of our two iconic brands, Waitrose and John Lewis,” John Lewis Partnership head of engineering Sandra Christie said.

“It’s our partners who make the difference and we’re really excited to be making this significant investment in growing our engineering talent.”
