Amazon opens first Fresh grocery store outside of London

Amazon has today opened an Amazon Fresh grocery store in Sevenoaks, making it the first location to open outside of London.

“We’re delighted to open our new Amazon Fresh store in Sevenoaks, the first store to be located outside of London,” Amazon Fresh stores director Matt Birch said.

“We’ve heard from customers that they appreciate the seamless shopping experience the Just Walk Out technology enables, as well as the wide selection of food. Customers will also find our dedicated store team ready to help as they shop.”

The move signifies not only the success of the Just Walk Out (JWO) technology but also Amazon’s intent to open more stores nationwide.

So far, its other checkout-free stores can be found in Ealing, Wembley Park, Camden, White City, Canary Wharf, Dalston, East Sheen, Islington, Richmond, Holborn and most recently Hackney.

To shop in the store, Amazon customers simply use the Amazon app to enter, put their phone away and shop for what they need. At the end of their shopping trip, they can just walk out.

Customers do not need to be Prime subscribers in order to use the stores.

Amazon Fresh stores offer a wide selection of products, including its private food brand ‘by Amazon’ and its premium grocery range, ‘Our Selection’, which offer hundreds of items, hot food throughout the day, and tasty on-the-go meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Customers can also purchase desert options from Pleesecakes and tasty sushi from Sushi Kano, alongside pastries from the Flour Station bakery which are delivered fresh each morning.

The store also houses an Amazon Hub, where customers can pick up items purchased on Amazon’s online marketplace or return items without needing to package the product or print a shipping label.
