Very Group appoints former Walmart executive as new CEO

Very Group has appointed former Walmart executive Lionel Desclée as new chief executive as Henry Birch resigns after four-and-a-half years.

Desclée joins from McKinsey & Company, where he is a senior advisor.

He previously spent three years as president and chief executive of Walmart’s Japanese business where he was responsible for a workforce of 35,000.

Prior to Walmart, he was president and chief executive at Tom & Co, which operates over 160 pet care stores in Belgium, Luxembourg and France.
