GoPuff appoints former Amazon exec as vice president of grocery

GoPuff has appointed former Amazon exec Patrick Bigatel as its new vice president of grocery.

Bigatel joins the quick commerce firm from truck transportation company Booster, where he served as vice president of new business development.

Prior to that, he spent almost 15 years at Amazon, holding such positions as general manager of Amazon heavy-hulky, home services and local selling.

“Throughout my career, I have worked on and studied transformative retail disruptions that benefit customers, and GoPuff embodies this retail disruptor mentality,” Bigatel said via LinkedIn post.

“The focus on customer-first innovations and technologies, underpinned by a unique vertically integrated supply chain, has benefits extending throughout the company down to the experience our customers receive with every order.

“I will be meeting some of the team in Philadelphia this week. I look forward to working with old colleagues and meeting new teammates. I’m thrilled to work with Maria Renz again and am grateful for the opportunity to help shape the future of GoPuff.

“We have several open roles on my team at varying levels, so if you want to be a part of redefining retail, please reach out. To my old vendor partners, I look forward to reconnecting and working with you.”

The news comes after Gopuff co-founder and co-CEO Rafael Ilishayev recently defended his company’s business model, as the sector continues to draws criticism.
