Nike appoints new senior leaders to drive its digital scheme

Sportswear giant Nike has announced a number of senior leadership appointments to contribute to  its ‘Consumer Direct Acceleration’ (CDA) project.

According to Nike, CDA is aimed at unlocking long-term growth and profitability. It focuses on accelerating innovation and enhancing interactive experiences.

Amy Montagne, who has been acting as VP/GM and working at Nike for 18 years, will move to the Women’s business as VP/GM Women’s. Her previous roles dealt with allocation, planning and merchandising at Gap Inc., Mervyn’s and Walmart.

Montagne will replace Whitney Malkiel, the current VP/GM Women’s, who has decided to leave the company, according to Nike.

Cathy Sparks, who is currently VP of Nike Direct, EMEA, will lead the APLA geography as VP/GM, APLA. She has previously held the roles of VP/GM at various Nike stores across the globe, including the US and Korea, starting out as a NikeTown Portland store athlete.

“These changes will further build on our strengths and underscore our commitment to accelerate our women’s business, invest in our geographies, and further grow our top talent. We remain committed to transforming Nike faster to define the marketplace of the future and unlock the next phase of growth through CDA,” Heidi O’Neill, President of Consumer and Marketplace, said.

Earlier in February, it became known that the company’s chief digital officer Ratnakar Lavu, who joined in 2019, is stepping down. He was responsible for overseeing all of Nike’s global technology functions across the company with responsibility for accelerating new digital capabilities.

Overall, Nike’s digital presence has been increasing, especially with the announcement of .SWOOSH – an inclusive digital space to champion athletes and sports.
