Klarna rolls out ChatGPT plugin for personalised shopping

Klarna has built a plugin for ChatGPT to enable “highly personalized and intuitive shopping experience.”

The collaboration with OpenAI offers customers curated product recommendations upon request.

Users can now install the Klarna plugin from ChatGPT’s plugin store and ask it for shopping ideas. In response, the chatbot can provide a list of curated items which can be adjusted by requesting further recommendations, providing feedback or adding prompts.

By clicking a product link, customers can go directly to the product page on Klarna’s search and compare tool to compare prices across different brands. The recently launched tool allows users to choose the best price across thousands of retailers, and enables shoppers to filter by colour, size, customer ratings and more.

Customers can also make use of Klarna’s personal summary feature Money Story to keep track of their spending.

“I’m super excited about our plugin with ChatGPT because it passes my ‘north star’ criteria that I call my ‘mom test’, i.e. would my mom understand and benefit from this. And it does because it’s easy to use and genuinely solves a ton of problems – it drives tremendous value for everyone,” Sebastian Siemiatkowski, co-founder and CEO of Klarna, said.

Earlier in March, Klarna rolled out ‘conscious badges’ awarded to up to five brands for various sustainable practices.
